Sarah Williams is in Costa Rica!

Sarah is a student on a five month Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Costa Rica run by an organisation called YWAM (Youth With A Mission).

The DTS is an intensive 5 to 6 month training course split into two parts: lecture phase and outreach, designed to help students grow deep relationships with God, preparing them to answer the command: “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations…” Matthew 28:19.

Sarah says that her original plans to do the DTS in California were thwarted by the Covid pandemic, but she was thrilled that YWAM in Costa Rica were running the course and that she was able to travel out there in early April in these uncertain times.

‘I’m learning so much’, says Sarah, ‘and am looking forward to going on the outreach part of the course to El Salvador at the start of July’.

We pray that this time away will indeed be a blessed one for her and look forward to hearing all about it when she returns in late August!

Here’s a photograph of Sarah with the other students on the DTS from Honduras, Chile, Germany, and the United States.

The Two That Got Away

James has finally realised his gap year plan to travel to Uganda with local South Wales charity PONT, since the Government allowed travel abroad for volunteering. He will be in Uganda for five months, working in two different wildlife centres. The goal is for income from the new wildlife centre in Mbale to support, for the long term, all the good work the charity does in healthcare, education, livelihoods and churches. James will also be getting involved with the local church and youth groups and we are praying that this will be a great opportunity for growing in faith.

Monisha is also taking a gap year has travelled to Mbale, Uganda, to volunteer with the Christian charity, Jenga (the Swahili word for “build”). She will be focussing on medical work in the villages, hospitals and slums and is hoping to get lots of opportunities to show the love of Jesus, whether it be in practical ways or by praying with people in their situations.

Ask for Prayer via the Prayer Box

Although the church building is closed, the church isn’t. We’d love to pray for any needs in the community, so if you’d like us to pray for anything please pop a note into the prayer box.

How it Works

Are you feeling anxious about anything? Just write what you’d like us to pray for on a slip of paper and deposit it in the post box that is fixed to the wall on the left of the chapel gate. See the bottom of this website for the chapel address.

How to Join in Zoom Church

We want to make sure that we support each other through these times and continue to work as a community of believers, sharing Jesus in Machen and beyond. We will be joining together on Zoom to look at God’s word and share with one another in encouragement and prayer.

When is this Happening?

Every Sunday, at 10.30am until further notice.

How To Join Us From The Comfort Of Your Own Beanbag

You will be sent a meeting code and password (via the church WhatsApp group) to join the Zoom meeting where we can share what we’ve been thinking, anything that God has been speaking to us about and any points for prayer.

Use the contact form at the bottom of this website to request to be included on the WhatsApp group.

We will be using the application called Zoom to tune into the service.
Please do not pay for any software – you can use it for free.
