Church weekend
From Friday 21st to Sunday 23 September the majority of the fellowship gathered together for our annual weekend away at Standlake Ranch near Oxford. The aim of the weekend was to enjoy fellowship with each other, as well as learn more about our great God.
The facilities at the Ranch gave a wonderful opportunity for children (and adults) to have fun. Many enjoyed spending time in the boats on the lake, as well as out o
f the boats in the lake! There was also time for a competitive game of football, as well as a more relaxing walk ending in a gathering around the campfire.
We also had 4 teaching sessions under the theme of “The attributes of God”. We considered that:
- God knows everything. He knows all about the past, present and future. This is both a challenge to us as we think about our sin, but also a comfort as God knows all about our situation.
- God is faithful. He is true to His word, and never lets us down. This is a comfort, for we can depend completely upon God. However, we also need to follow God, and be faithful ourselves.
- God is Holy. He is altogether different from us, especially in terms of being separate from sin. However, every Christian can rejoice in the fact, that such a God has set them apart as His own special people.
- God is love. This remarkable love can be seen supremely in the gift of the Son of God as the Saviour of sinners.
All in all the whole weekend was a blessing to all who attended.
